Echo911 Raises the Bar for Public Safety Telecommunications

In September 2025, Echo911 launched an aggressive and forward thinking initiative to expand and elevate the training and certification levels of all Public Safety Telecommunicators at our Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and Emergency Communications Center (ECC). As part of this initiative, Echo911 has implemented the Total Response Emergency Police Dispatch, Emergency Fire Dispatch, and Emergency Medical Dispatch protocols within our ECC. These evidence based protocols ensure that every call receives the highest standard of service from the moment it is answered.

Building on a Strong Foundation

Historically, Echo911 training programs have centered on APCO International curriculum. We continue to require Public Safety Telecommunicator I, 7th Edition as the foundational certification for all new and existing personnel.

Many of our Public Safety Telecommunicators have joined Echo911 from other major PSAPs throughout the region, bringing extensive experience and certifications, including from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED). Our leadership team made the strategic decision to standardize and expand training for all personnel, regardless of prior experience, by ensuring that every Public Safety Telecommunicator completes the same advanced training academies and certifications. This investment reflects our commitment to operational consistency, excellence, and community trust.

Early Results: Rapid Certification Growth

In less than one month, the training campaign has already produced measurable results:

  • Five Public Safety Telecommunicators have completed Emergency Medical Dispatch with Telephone CPR (TCPR) certification.
  • Three have additionally completed Fire Service Dispatch certification.
  • Two have completed Law Enforcement Dispatch certification.

Our goal by January 1, 2026 is to achieve one hundred percent certification of all Echo911 Public Safety Telecommunicators in the following disciplines:

  • Emergency Medical Dispatch with TCPR
  • Fire Service Dispatch Certification
  • Law Enforcement Dispatch Certification

This approach removes the model where certain call types are handled primarily by telecommunicators with specialized training. Moving forward, all Echo911 telecommunicators will be fully certified across all call types, enabling any team member to step in and provide professional, nationally recognized service whenever needed. This ensures greater operational flexibility, improved coverage, and a consistent standard of excellence on every call.

Next Phase: 52 Week Enhanced Training Program

Beginning in January 2026, Echo911 will launch a comprehensive 52 week Enhanced Training Program for all Public Safety Telecommunicators. This initiative expands and standardizes expertise across specialized areas that are critical to modern emergency communications. While several members of our current team already hold some of these certifications, this program will ensure that every Echo911 telecommunicator receives the same advanced training and maintains a consistent level of knowledge and proficiency.

  • 911 Liability
  • 911 Supervision
  • Active Shooter Response
  • Domestic Violence Intervention
  • Non Emergency Call Handling
  • Homeland Security for Telecommunicators
  • Crisis Communications Training
  • Suicide Intervention
  • Hostage Negotiation
  • Stress Identification and Management
  • Rural Firefighting
  • Leadership Skills
  • Information Gathering from Child and Senior Callers
  • School Emergencies
  • Hazardous Materials

This structured, year long plan underscores Echo911 leadership in Public Safety Telecommunications, setting a standard of excellence for both private and public sectors. All newly hired telecommunicators will be enrolled in the same comprehensive training program and will remain in probationary status until all required certifications and coursework are successfully completed. This ensures that every member of our team meets the same high standards before assuming full operational responsibilities.

Strengthening Partnerships Through Training

Beyond internal development, Echo911 telecommunicators will periodically lead a Radio Communications Fundamentals training program for partner agencies and client organizations. This course improves interagency interoperability, radio discipline, and overall communications effectiveness.

Commitment to Agencies and Communities

Echo911 mission is clear. Provide the best possible service and support to the agencies and communities we serve. Any public safety agency interested in exploring outsourced dispatch solutions is encouraged to contact us. Through strategic investment in people, training, and technology, Echo911 is raising the bar for PSAP and ECC operations and emergency communications nationwide.
